Gang Units locates AR-15 rifle and Narcotics during Search Warrant

“Merced – Merced PD Gang Unit arrests a known gang member in possession of an assault rifle and narcotics after serving a search warrant.

On March 12, 2022 at approximately 8:27 PM the Merced Police Departments Gang Violence Suppression Unit served a search warrant in the 1400 block of Stretch Road. Officer Brian Laguna obtained information that the resident at the home Johnny Cardenas (34) was in possession of a firearm.

Officer Zazueta and his K9 partner Zeke conducted a search of the home and located several boxes of ammunition, narcotics, and an AR-15 style rifle. Cardenas is prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition. Cardenas was arrested and booked into Merced County Jail.
