Two Arrested for Allegedly Robbing Man of Watch He Was Trying to Sell
SUNNYVALE, CA — “On April 15, 2025, Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety (DPS) officers responded to Ellis Elementary School following a report of a robbery. The victim informed officers that he had arranged to meet with two individuals interested in purchasing a watch he was selling. During the meeting, one of the suspects brandished a handgun, and both suspects proceeded to rob the victim of the watch. Fortunately, the victim was not injured during the incident.
Following an extensive investigation, the suspects were identified as Giovanni Velez of San Jose and Enrique Guerrero of Santa Clara. This morning, the Sunnyvale DPS SWAT team and the San Jose Police Department’s Mobile Emergency Response Group (MERG) team executed simultaneous operations to apprehend both suspects. Both individuals were taken into custody without incident. The stolen watch was also recovered.
Both Velez and Guerrero were arrested and booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on robbery charges.”
