Assault and Robbery at Higuera Street Business Leads to Arrest of Suspect Dominic Charkhian

SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA  —  ”On Friday, May 16, 2025 at approximately 10:24 am, officers were dispatched to the report of an assault and robbery that had taken place at a business of the 500 block of Higuera approximately 20 minutes prior. An employee had seen a male laying shirtless across a table in the hallway of the business and told him he needed to leave. The male, later identified as 26-year-old Dominic Charkhian, left and a short time after, the employee went into the restroom and found Charkhian inside charging his phone.

The employee again told Charkhian he needed to leave, and an argument began. The employee took out his mobile phone and began to film Charkhian and told him he was going to call the police. Charkhian knocked the phone out of the employees’ hand, pulled out a knife and threatened to kill him. The employee grabbed a plastic trash can to put between himself and Charkhian who continued to threaten him with the knife and then ran out of the restroom, taking the employees’ phone with him. The employee later found his phone broken into pieces in a nearby parking lot.

Officers were not able to immediately locate the suspect but through investigative collection of video from nearby businesses, the suspect was identified as Charkhian.

On Saturday, May 17, 2025, an officer driving on Santa Rosa Street saw Charkhian walking next to Santa Rosa Park. He was located a short time after in the parking lot of the park and arrested without incident. Charkhian was booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail on the following charges:
