BRENTWOOD —Two usual suspects have been arrested on suspicion of organized retail theft, conspiracy to commit crime, and related offenses. Officers arrested the two men at Home Depot on Lone Tree Way in Brentwood.

Police responded to a report that two suspicious persons were inside the store during the evening of April 14. A prepared statement from Brentwood PD said. “Both are known suspects in numerous retail theft incidents at different Home Depot locations.”

Officers detained 38-year-old Thomas C. Hodge, and Daniel V. Clark, 54, both of Fairfield. Hodge was locked up after he attempted to flee from the police. Both men were transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Police recovered evidence from inside a truck used by the men. Officers found large buckets of paints evidently stolen. They also recovered a tool typically used to deactivate or otherwise remove anti-theft devices.

Turns out Hodge had outstanding arrest warrants. He is also on active probation in Solano County for a grand theft conviction. Hodge was transferred subsequently to the West County Detention Facility in Richmond, where he is ineligible for release on bond.

Meanwhile, Hodge also has another active criminal case for grand theft and second-degree burglary.

Plus, he has other previous arrests for grand theft, petty theft, and shoplifting, among other offenses. Clark, who is no longer in custody, faces additional charges for possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. He also has prior drug-related arrests on record in Contra Costa and Solano counties.
