“On the morning of March 17, 2024, at about 3:30 AM, the Red Bluff Police Department was contacted by California Highway Patrol (CHP). CHP reported a single vehicle collision at the CHP, Red Bluff Area office located at 2550 Main Street.

Red Bluff Police Officers responded and contacted Samuel Segura, 37 years old of Red Bluff. Segura appeared to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. While investigating, Officers learned Segura’s driver’s license was suspended from a DUI arrest which occurred in January of 2024.

Officers ultimately determined Segura had driven under the influence of an alcoholic beverage with a suspected blood alcohol content (BAC) above 0.08%.

In January of 2024, Segura was stopped by a Red Bluff Police Officer after he failed to stop at a stop sign. During that incident, Segura was arrested for driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage with a suspected blood alcohol content above 0.08%. As a result, Segura’s driver’s license was suspended/ revoked.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), “Every day, about 37 people in the United States die in drunk-driving crashes — that’s one person every 39 minutes. In 2021, 13,384 people died in alcohol-impaired driving traffic deaths — a 14% increase from 2020. These deaths were all preventable.” (https://www.nhtsa.gov/risky-driving/drunk-driving)

Consuming alcoholic beverages and getting behind the wheel is simply not worth the risk.

The Red Bluff Police Department would like to thank Red Bluff Area CHP Officers for their assistance in this investigation.
