Suspect Allegedly Stole Cash Registers and Safes from a Shopping Center

NOVATO — A man caught driving a stolen car San Pablo was arrested by Novato detectives for a shopping center burglary. San Pablo PD detained the suspect until Novato detectives placed him under arrest.

The burglary occurred on February 2 at the Square Shopping Center, 2085 Novato Boulevard, Novato. Surveillance video shows the suspect walking through businesses with a crowbar. Next thing, cash registers and safes were stolen from two businesses, along with other property.

Novato police received notification hours later that San Pablo police pulled over a stolen car. Inside the car they found items stolen from the shopping center. Novato detectives arrested Paul Amey, Jr., a 42- year-old construction worker, who lives in Hercules. The stolen property was returned to FBI Burgers and Marin Fitness.

Amey was taken to Marin County Jail for the shopping center burglary, and for an outstanding warrant. He remains at the county lockup behind bars in lieu of $135,000 bond. Amey was booked on open charges including-

  • Burglary
  • Impersonation to make another liable
  • Providing false identification to police
  • Vandalism
