“In September 2023, the San Luis Obispo Police Detective Bureau began an investigation into a reported sexual assault of a juvenile female. During this investigation, the victim reported the crime occurred approximately 10 years earlier, when she was just 5 years old and that she was raped by Josue PerezRosales, a resident of San Luis Obispo.

While conducting further investigation, a San Luis Obispo Detective located an additional 2020 sexual assault case where PerezRosales was arrested for sexual assault of a 15-year-old male victim. That case was evaluated at the time by the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney’s Office, but not prosecuted due to insufficient evidence. When the 2023 assault was reported and commonalities of both cases discovered, the 2020 assault case was reopened as the new evidence provided the evidence needed to resubmit the case to the District Attorney for prosecution.

On December 20, 2023, an arrest warrant was obtained for the arrest of PerezRosales and on December 21, 2023, PerezRosales was located and taken into custody without incident.
PerezRosales is currently being held at the San Luis Obispo County Jail for the charges listed below. Bail has been set at $500,000.
