A felon prohibited from possessing firearms was arrested outside Alta Bates Summit Medical Center for possession of a loaded firearm. Ronald Creggett, 41 of Fairfield, was taken into custody on the morning of July 24.

Berkeley PD responded following a parking dispute that escalated with threats. It seems the suspect blocked a parking area reserved for hospital shuttle buses.

An argument erupted when the shuttle driver told Creggett that he needed to move his car. Instead of moving his car, allegedly Creggett and his passenger began threatening the shuttle driver.

When police arrived Creggett was detained outside the hospital. Shortly thereafter, officers discovered that he had a loaded firearm in his possession.

Creggett was arrested at 11 a.m. at 2145 Ashby Avenue. He was transported and booked into Alameda County Santa Rita Jail, where he remains in custody.

On July 25, Creggett was charged with making criminal threats PC 422 (a) and possession of a firearm by a felon PC 1170 (b).

Creggett is no stranger to law enforcement. He has prior convictions and he has served time in state prison. In 2003, he was sentenced 16 months for first degree robbery of an inhabited vessel/floating home.

In 2007, he was convicted for sale/offering to sell a controlled substance. For this, he served 163 days in county jail and he was put on probation for five years. He also has prior arrests for petty theft, DUI and driving while his license was suspended for drunk driving.
