“Over 13 grams of Fentanyl are off the streets thanks to HCSO K9 Uno and deputies!  Yesterday morning during a traffic stop in McKinleyville, K9 Uno conducted a free air sniff of a vehicle and positively indicated the presence of narcotics inside. During a search of the vehicle and its three occupants, deputies located over 13 grams of suspected fentanyl and .38 grams of meth. The drugs were seized and the three were cited and released on misdemeanor charges.

In 2022, HCSO K9s detected over 11 ounces of narcotic controlled substances, helped recover approximately five firearms and have helped with the apprehension of numerous suspects. A police K9’s presence alone tends to de-escalate most combative situations, increasing the safety of both responding deputies and suspects.”
