A road rage incident led to a violent crash and subsequent arrest on March 30, 2023 in Marina, California. At around 7:26 a.m., Marina Police and Fire were dispatched to a vehicle injury accident in the area of Del Monte Blvd. and Palm Avenue. Upon arriving, officers found one of the involved vehicles in the driveway of the Marina Fire Department and the other across the street.

An investigation revealed that two drivers were engaged in a road rage incident that began in the City of Salinas and ended in a collision at the intersection of Del Monte Blvd. and Reservation Road in Marina. The suspect driver, identified as 28-year-old Hector Guillen of Greenfield, intentionally rammed the victim’s vehicle multiple times from behind, pushing it through the intersection and onto southbound Del Monte Blvd.

The victim attempted to flee by making a U-turn over a center median, while the suspect proceeded to drive to the Marina Police Department. The victim called 911 and also arrived at the Police Department. As a result of the intentional ramming, the victim sustained minor injuries and moderate damage to their vehicle.

Guillen was subsequently arrested for violation of 245(a)(1) PC, Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and booked into Monterey County Jail. His bail was set at $30,000.

Marina Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward and contact them at 831-384-7575. Road rage incidents continue to be a concern for law enforcement, and it is important for drivers to remain calm and patient on the roads. Such incidents can escalate quickly, putting the safety of all involved at risk.
