SFPD Makes Arrests in Two Separate Incidents, More Suspects Outstanding

San Francisco police have announced the arrest of a wanted shooting suspect, as well as the opening of a separate investigation into a catalytic converter theft in which a suspect allegedly shot at officers, according to a department media release via Facebook.

The arrest of the wanted shooting suspect occurred on the 100 block of Brookdale on January 23. Officers had been investigating an individual wanted in connection to multiple alleged shooting incidents, and had approached the suspect and identified themselves as police officers.

The suspect then allegedly drew a firearm and swung his arm at officers. As officers subdued him, a shot was fired, police said.

The suspect, identified as 24-year-old Spencer Hansen-Mukomela, was ultimately disarmed and arrested. Officers reportedly found multiple firearms and magazines on him during the arrest.

On Wednesday, January 25, District Attorney Brooke Jenkins formally charged Hansen-Mukomela with seventeen felonies in relation to four alleged shooting incidents. Charges from the January 23 incident reportedly include assault on a peace officer with a firearm, resisting an executive officer, and more.

The other incident took place six days prior to the incident involving Hansen-Mukomela, on January 17.

Officers had responded to a call of a catalytic converter theft in progress in the area of McAllister and Arguello, and reportedly located a suspect vehicle occupied by multiple individuals.

During the foot pursuit that followed, one of the individuals allegedly fired multiple rounds at officers. One suspect was ultimately arrested, but several remain outstanding including the one who fired the shots, police said.

“I am extremely proud of the work of officers assigned to Richmond Station, Park Station, the Tactical and Specialist Teams, HNT, and the Canine Unit who worked together to resolve the incident in the Richmond District,” San Francisco Police Chief Bill Scott said in the media release.
