A licensed insurance agent identified as Angelica Maria Holst (54) was arraigned today for embezzlement. She is being charged with 4 felony counts of theft totaling over $35,000.

Holst was the owner of Highway & Environmental Insurance Services, Inc. and was operating the business as a licensed insurance agent. The complaint reported that she failed to hand over commercial insurance policy payments from several of her clients. She instead pocketed the funds for her own personal use.

The investigation led to the discovery that Holst embezzled client funds totaling $35,789. The theft occurred between July and December 2018. The managing general agency covered the losses so that the clients had no lapse in covered and remained insured.

The Department of Insurance and the Orange County District attorney are pursuing charges of theft and is also seeking to have Holst insurance license revoked. She is scheduled to return to court on January 19th, 2023.
