Costa Mesa Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest for Possession of Narcotics and Nitrous Oxide for Sale
COSTA MESA, CA — Two newly appointed Costa Mesa police officers arrested a 21-year-old Anaheim resident on multiple drug-related charges during a proactive patrol assignment.
The incident occurred shortly before 9:00 p.m. when the officers, who recently completed their Field Training program, observed a vehicle stopped in the roadway. Upon closer examination, the officers noted that the vehicle had expired registration tags and a broken taillight, prompting an enforcement contact.
During the interaction with the driver, officers observed items in plain sight that are commonly associated with the sale of narcotics, along with various drug products. A subsequent search of the vehicle was conducted, during which officers discovered nitrous oxide (NOS) tanks stored inside the trunk.
The driver was taken into custody by the officers and booked on suspicion of possession of nitrous oxide and possession of drugs for sale.
