PALM SPRINGS — At approximately 2:14 AM on October 30, Palm Springs police responded to a call regarding a shooting that occurred on the 5600 Block of E. Ramon Road. This was later determined to be a homicide, police said.

An investigation uncovered that there were three victims who’d been arguing with the two suspects. The argument eventually escalated and one of the suspects, identified as Anasatacio Machuca, allegedly took out a firearm and shot at the three victims.

As the victims fled, the second suspect, identified as Antonio Marins, shot at the victims. Both suspects then fled the scene.

On Sunday, police identified one of the suspect’s likely whereabouts.

With the help of Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Antonio Marins was detained during a traffic stop near the intersection of Fred Waring and Jefferson Drive.

As for Machuca, police were able to contact him and arrange his surrender and arrest in the city of Mecca, police said.

Anasatacio Machuca and Antonio Marins were both booked at the John Benoit Detention Center, Indio. Marins was charged with murder and Machuca was charged with murder and attempted murder.
