Search for Hemet Area Man Who Sexually Assaulted a Minor Ends in Sacramento
ANZA – The investigation of man suspected of sexually assaulting a minor leads authorities to Sacramento, where a Hemet man was arrested following a vehicle pursuit.
A June 6 report of a man pursuing a teenager on a dirt bike led Riverside Sheriff’s Department deputies to the unincorporated community of Anza to investigate. Deputies were able to locate the teenager who told deputies that he was being chased by his previous employer, Randy Morasch, 51 of Hemet. As the interview continued, deputies were given the disturbing information that Morasch had repeatedly sexually assaulted the victim.
Upon receiving this information, investigators followed up with a search warrant on June 9, which was served on the suspect’s property Secret Falls Road, in Aguanga. Police were unable to locate the suspect, but uncovered evidence that corroborated the information given by the victim.
Further information led authorities to believe that there may be other victims. An arrest warrant was obtained for Morasch and investigators continued the search. Morasch was believed to be on the run, driving one of several vehicles that he owned.
Hemet investigators received information on June 16 that Morasch had fled to Sacramento where he had rented a vehicle. California Highway Patrol in the area was requested to be on the lookout and at 10:00 AM, the vehicle was spotted by a CHP officer.
According to Sergeant Wallace Clear in a press release, when the officer attempted to stop Morasch, the suspect fled and a pursuit ensued. Morasch collided with another vehicle, effectively ending the pursuit. Morasch was taken into custody and booked into Sacramento County Jail. He will be extradited back to Riverside County following the adjudication of any charges he incurred in Sacramento County.
