Sacramento Sheriff Investigates Girl Found Dead in Park

Sacramento County Sheriff’s Homicide detectives are currently investigating a young girl found dead in a Sacramento County park on Tuesday, March 6, according to a press release issued by the sheriff’s department. The victim was reportedly identified as 13-year-old Jessica Funk-Haslam and was found near a baseball diamond in Rosemont Community Park in the 9300 block of Americana Way in Sacramento.

According to the press release, deputies pronounced the victim dead at the scene and while investigators have not yet determined a cause of death they are treating the incident as a homicide investigation. There are reportedly no information on suspects at this time.

Jessica was last seen at her residence by family members at approximately 5:30pm on Monday, March 5, according to the release. The sheriff’s department is reportedly trying to establish the victim’s whereabouts between the time she left her residence and the time her body was discovered.
