“On August 19th 2022 a suspect fired multiple rounds from a handgun at Hoover Park. The intended victim was not struck. Multiple rounds struck the Boys and Girls Club building. This caused a lockdown of not only the Boys and Girls Club but Hoover Elementary School as well. No one was hurt during the attack.

An intensive investigation resulted in the identification of Jorge Daniel Gomez (32) of San Carlos, as the shooter. On September 21st 2022 Redwood City Detectives and members of the San Mateo

County Narcotics Task Force served a search warrant at Gomez’ residence. He was arrested at that time. He was in possession of a loaded, illegally possessed Glock handgun and over ¾ of an ounce of methamphetamine. Over $3000 was seized as evidence of illegal drug sales.

Gomez was booked into the San Mateo County Jail for the following charges:
Attempted Murder
Negligent Discharge Of A Firearm
Felon In Possession Of A Firearm
Felon In Possession Of Ammunition
Possession Of A Controlled Substance With A Firearm
Possession Of Methamphetamine For Sales
