Two Arrested after Allegedly Transporting Narcotics with 5-Year-Old Child in Car

Two people already out on bail for other alleged crimes were recently arrested on new charges in San Mateo County.

Just a few minutes before midnight on Sunday, October 2, police stopped a vehicle in the area of La Selva Street at Casa de Campo for an alleged vehicle code violation.

Of the five occupants, which included a 5-year-old child, two of them — identified as 23-year-old Fane Havea and 20-year-old James Williams — were both out on bail and subject to search, police said.

Officers searched the vehicle and reportedly discovered a loaded and unregistered Glock, as well as a backpack containing large amounts of cash and suspected marijuana. More suspected marijuana, along with suspected cocaine and methamphetamine, were found in the trunk. Officers also found a digital scale.

Police confiscated a total of 56.5 grams of marijuana, 2.37 grams of cocaine, and and 90.05 grams of methamphetamine. The cash totaled to just over $2,000.

The 5-year-old child was released to the custody of her grandparents, while the four adult occupants were taken in for questioning. Two of the occupants were ultimately released after officers found they had not been involved in any of the suspected illegal activity, police said.

Havea and Williams were booked into the San Mateo County Jail on a variety of narcotics charges each, as well as suspected child abuse and weapons charges.
