Two arrested in connection to alleged “narcotics activity” in hotel room

“On Thursday July 14th, 2022, the Redding Police Department’s Bike Team received information about narcotics activity at a hotel room at the Deluxe Inn in downtown Redding. Officers learned that the hotel room was registered to Sierra WILSON (26 years of Redding), who is on active CDC Parole for Criminal Threats.

The Bike Team conducted a parole search in the hotel room and contacted WILSON, Russell HOWSMON (28 years of Redding), and Stephanie ERKELENS (36 years of Anderson). Inside of the hotel room officers located fentanyl, heroin, and drug paraphernalia. Based on the investigation, officers determined the hotel room was being used to possess, furnish, and use illegal narcotics.

HOWSMON and ERKELENS were issued citations for possessing drug paraphernalia and possessing narcotics. WILSON was booked into the Shasta County Jail for violation of parole, maintaining a place where narcotics are used, and possession of narcotics and paraphernalia.”
