“On Monday, November 15, 2021 at approximately 12:06 AM David Roden, of Redding, called 911 to report he had just been struck in the face with a machete. Officers from the Redding Police Department responded to the area to assist Mr. Roden. Officers found he was suffering from an injury to the side of his face, consistent with being struck with a sharp object.

Mr. Roden advised he went outside his home, in the 2000 block of California Street, after hearing someone loudly yelling where he was confronted by an unknown male with a sledge hammer. After a brief verbal exchange, the male suspect retrieved a machete and struck Mr. Roden in the side of the face with it.

The male suspect fled the area, but responding officers found him just a few blocks away, still in possession of the machete. Mr. Roden was able to make a positive identification of the suspect and the officers verified his identity as 21-year-old Christopher Turnbull, of Fairfield.

Turnbull was arrested and booked into the Shasta County Jail for a felony charge of 245(a)(1) PC – Assault with a deadly weapon.”
