Stanislaus County man accused of physically, sexually abusing captive partner

Stanislaus County authorities have announced the arrest of a man on suspicion of physically and sexually assaulting his partner.

24-year-old Brandon Brooks, who is currently on parole, is accused of holding his partner hostage for several hours, during which she was allegedly subject to physical and sexual assault.

Deputies responded to the 500 block of South 9th Street in Modesto late on the night of May 16, and then a second time around 1o o’clock the next morning, May 17, to investigate reports from a confidential victim that her partner was holding her against her will.

Deputies canvassed the area and soon located the victim and Brooks. The victim was taken to a safe location and, through subsequent interviews with both respective parties, investigators concluded there was a strong enough case to take Brooks into custody, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Brooks is reportedly being held without bail and faces nine felony charges, including domestic violence, forcible sodomy, battery resulting in serious injury, and false imprisonment.
