Man allegedly assaults deputy in Siskiyou County, arrested in Nevada

Beginning on April 8th, the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office began looking for 26-year-old Justin Edward Maughs.

The 5’10” male with brown hair and brown eyes was last wearing a red shirt and grey sweatpants.

Maughs had allegedly assaulted a deputy during a traffic stop and took off, and was reportedly last seen in Yreka.

Eleven days later, on April 19th, the SCSO got word that Maughs was in Ely, Nevada.

Nevada law enforcement worked with Siskiyou  to arrest the suspect. He will be returned to Siskiyou to face charges in the assault.

The deputy is still recovering from his injuries and is expected to return to duty.
