Traffic Stop on Interstate-5 in Siskiyou County Leads to Discovery of Over 2,000 Pounds of Black Market Cannabis

SISKIYOU COUNTY, CA — “On Wednesday, October 21st, a Siskiyou County Sheriff’s sergeant was traveling northbound on Interstate-5, when he noticed a truck pulling a U-Haul trailer and driving erratically. After initiating a traffic stop with the vehicle, the sergeant contacted the driver, 36 year old Omar Jacob Gonzalez, and conducted a probable cause search of the truck and trailer.

Upon opening the trailer, the sergeant found dozens of large black bags containing marijuana that lacked the required certifications identifying legal marijuana products. Gonzalez was subsequently arrested for violating 11360(A) HS and 11359(B) HS for the possession and transportation of illegally cultivated marijuana, and booked at the Siskiyou County Jail. A follow-up count of all the marijuana contained in the trailer further determined that Gonzalez had been transporting 2,254 pounds of black market marijuana at the time of his arrest.”
