Tessmer was arrested in 2019 for the murder of Donald Hobrecht. Holbrecht was first reported as missing when his neighbors and friends had not seen him in over a week. An investigation into his disappearance lead to the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office Detectives locating Hobrecht’s body buried in a shallow grave in his own backyard. Tessmer was arrested for murder and has been held at the Siskiyou County Jail since 2019.

According to Sheriff Jeremiah LaRue:
“The jury sent a powerful message today as they announced a guilty verdict against Mr. Tessmer for murder. In 2019, Mr. Tessmer brutally murdered Mr. Holbrecht, and we hope this announcement brings some closure to the family of Mr. Holbrecht.” “”
