Yreka man accused of DUI, reckless evading in stolen car

A Yreka man has been arrested after allegedly leading police on a chase in a stolen car while intoxicated.

Just before 7:30 PM on April 25, a local CHP officer spotted a white Honda Accord that had recently been reported stolen from Bruce’s Towing being driven on northbound Montague Grenada Road.

After confirming that it was the same car, the officer attempted a traffic stop. Rather than pull over, the driver hit the gas and led the officer on a pursuit, occasionally at over 90 MPH, along northbound Main Street and northbound Montague Road, before eventually turning around and heading back into Yreka on southbound Montague Road.

The pursuit came to an abrupt halt when the driver collided with a sign post north of McAdams Creek Road.

The driver, identified as 27-year-old Tony Pham of Yreka, reportedly displayed signs of being under the influence of drugs and was found to have suspected methamphetamine and heroin in his possession.

Pham was arrested and stands to face multiple charges including vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, reckless evading, drug-related DUI, possession of methamphetamine, possession of heroin, driving on a suspended license, and violation of probation.
