Merced Gang Unit locates Narcotics and firearm during search warrant

Merced – Merced PD Gang unit locates Methamphetamine for sale and a firearm during a search warrant Saturday March 19th.

On March 19, 2022 at approximately 12:30 PM Merced Police Departments Gang Violence Suppression Unit served a search warrant in the 2400 block of Springwood Drive in Atwater. Gang Officer Taylor Rocha received information that the resident Michael Salazar (62) was selling methamphetamine.

As officers searched the residence, they located approximately 70 grams of methamphetamine. Officers also found resident William Prothro (38) in possession of methamphetamine and a 380 handgun. Salazar was arrested for sales of narcotics and Prothro was arrested for possession of narcotics while possessing a firearm.
