Major Crimes Unit Detectives Attain Murder Confessions a Year Later – Two Arrested

POMONA – Nearly a year ago, when Pomona Police Department Officers responded to a traffic collission on March 20, 2021 at approximately 5:22 PM. Responding Officers found that a solo pickup truck had left the roadway at the site of the collision at the intersection of Holt Blvd. and Erie Street.

Pomona PD announced, “Upon further investigation, Officers discovered that the driver, Luis Alberto Garcia, had been shot. Garcia was transported to a local hospital where he later passed away from his injuries.”

Major Crimes Unit Detectives jumped in to assume the investigation. As a result, the unit obtained two confessions – regarding two men’s involvement in the murder.

Pomona residents Aurelio Camarillo (44) and Luis Silva (28) were put under arrest on 02/16/2022 for the murder of Luis Alberto Garcia (32). The Los Angeles District Attorney slapped them with the following charges:

Aurelio Camarillo – 187 PC – Murder, 246 PC – Shooting at an occupied Vehicle, and 29800a PC – felon in possession of a firearm
Luis Silva – 32 PC – Accessory after the fact
