“On Saturday, January 15, 2022, at 12:51 AM, Santa Rosa Police Department officers were dispatched to the 800-block of Sebastopol Road for a shooting that had just occurred. SRPD Dispatchers were notified that one adult male had been shot outside of a local business. Dispatchers sent multiple officers and emergency medical services.
When officers arrived on the scene, they located an adult male who had been shot one time. EMS providers tended to the victim and transported him to a local hospital. Shortly after arrival at a hospital, the victim was pronounced dead. The victim was identified as Brayan Perez-Lara, a 31-year-old male from Santa Rosa. Perez-Lara’s next of kin was notified earlier today.
Detectives from the SRPD Violent Crime Unit work throughout the night and all day today to identify the suspect. Patrol officers and detectives interviewed witnesses and canvassed the area while Field and Evidence Technicians processed the crime scene. Based on their thorough investigation, Inocencio Dunuan (a 27-year-old male from Santa Rosa) was identified as the suspect. The motive for the shooting is still being investigated.
Detectives authored a search warrant for Dunuan’s residence, in the 300-block of Asuelo Way. At 4:00 PM today, detectives, with the assistance of hostage negotiators and the SWAT team, served the warrant. Officers used the Long-Range Acoustic Device (L-RAD) to call Dunuan out of the residence. Within a couple of minutes, Dunuan exited the residence and surrendered to SWAT officers.
Dunuan was arrested and later booked into the Sonoma County jail for the below charges:
187 PC – Homicide
29800(a)(1) PC – (Felony) Felon in Possession of a Firearm
1203.2 PC – Violation of Probation (Probation is for assault with a firearm)”
