“This afternoon, Deputy Geng’s watchful eyes noticed a Buick driving recklessly in the area of Reservation Road and Portola Road and he attempted to stop it. But the driver, Javier Barocio, decided he didn’t want to stop and continued to flee from the red and blue lights in his rear view mirror. Deputy Geng continued to pursue Javier to Blanco Road and Abbott Street in the City of Salinas.
Javier made an error and turned onto a dead end towards the road closure on Abbott Street, due to new railroad tracks being installed. He attempted to make a U-turn back to the city, but was blocked by a patrol vehicle. Plan B – was to attempt to drive the Buick down the brand new railroad tracks.
As you may have guessed, the Buick ran out of steam and got stuck. Javier was arrested with the help of CHP – Monterey, who arrived just in time. We later learned Javier had an active arrest warrant for burglary. Javier was booked into our jail for evading, DUI, and his warrant.”
