An unexpected and unwelcome house guest has been arrested after allegedly entering someone’s garage while under the influence of drugs.

A woman called to report the intruder at around 9:48 p.m. on October 26th.  She and her children were in the garage of their Rancho Cucamonga residence, located in the 10000 Block Orange Street, when a man “acting erratically” suddenly showed up.

She had seen the man—identified as 31-year-old Rasmuss Peter Rasmussen of La Verne—walking around their neighborhood earlier, the woman told police, and noticed that he was “acting strangely,” and that she “believed he may be drunk or on drugs.”  By the time she called, the woman and her kids had gotten out of the house, and the strange man had been “detained” by her husband, according to the release.

Rancho Cucamonga officers found Rasmussen still in the garage when they got there.  “Rasmussen was incoherent and did not know where he was,” according to the release.  “Through the investigation, deputies determined Rasmussen was under the influence of a controlled substance and arrested him.”

Rasmussen was charged with under the influence of a controlled substance and booked at West Valley Detention Center.

The case will be prosecuted by the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office; they will also decide if other charges, including criminal trespassing, will be added.
