“On March 5, 2022, at 10:12 AM, #GardenGrovePD responded to a residence on the 12800 block of Safford, referencing a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located a 36-year-old male on the front lawn of the residence, with a stab wound. They immediately started life-saving measures on the victim until medics arrived and transported him to a local hospital. The suspect had fled the location prior to officers arriving.

During the investigation, it was learned the suspect, later identified as Gustavo Pablo Munguia (33-years-old, Garden Grove), was the victim’s roommate at a sober living home; and for unknown reasons, attacked the victim in the bedroom they both shared.

Working with Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, #GGPD detectives were able to locate Munguia’s vehicle parked in front of a residence in the City of Perris. Deputies initiated a vehicle stop as he left in the car, and took Munguia into custody without incident. He was later booked at Orange County Jail for attempted murder.

Currently, the victim is listed in critical condition. His personal information is not being released at this time, pending notification of family.”
