Police have arrested 18-year-old Zachary Pickrell for allegedly shooting a 17-year-old boy from Anaheim.

The shooting took place during the evening of September 5th, in a residence located in the 1700 block of North Holbrook Street.  Anaheim police were notified and responded at about 9:22 p.m.

When they arrived, they found the boy inside.  He was transported to a local trauma center for the treatment of his gunshot wounds, and he was eventually put on life support.

Officers also found another individual at the scene, suspect Zachary Pickrell.  “Pickrell identified himself as a friend of the boy and said they had been the victims of a drive-by shooting,” according to the release.  “Homicide detectives responded to investigate and determined that there had been no drive-by shooting, and that Pickrell shot the boy.”

Pickrell was initially arrested for attempted murder and booked into the Anaheim Detention Facility.

Sadly, the victim did not survive his wounds; he died on the morning of September 9th.

Pickrell was subsequently transferred to Orange County Jail with his bail set at $1 million.  “Pickrell’s charge is expected to be amended to Murder in the near future.”
