A Fresno man has been arrested in connection to the alleged murder of his girlfriend, according to police.

Sarah Hamm

On the afternoon of Monday, August 16, officers responded to a report of a woman possibly dead in an apartment on the 9400 block of North Saybrook Avenue. There they found 41-year-old Sarah Hamm unresponsive with a single gunshot wound.

Medical responders attempted to render aid, but Hamm ultimately was pronounced dead at the scene.

Before long, detectives had identified Hamm’s boyfriend, 42-year-old David Hernandez — also the focus of multiple investigations into attempted robbery and carjacking investigations — as the primary suspect.

As Hernandez was taken into custody, investigators found additional evidence from the North Saybrook Avenue location which connected him to the murder.

Hernandez is now charged with the murder of Sarah Hamm, and remains in custody at the Fresno County Jail.
