Fresno Police Arrest Man on Weapons Charges After Discovery of Loaded & Unserialized Firearm

FRESNO, CA — “On October 10, 2026, at approximately 9:21 pm, Fresno Police officers assigned to the Southeast Policing District responded to the area of South Minnewawa Avenue and East Burns Avenue to assist our AIR1 Air Support Unit regarding a suspicious subject call.  Our AIR1 Air Support crew advised the responding officers that they observed one of the two males they were watching place an object underneath his waistband.

As the responding officers walked towards the two subjects, one of the subjects discarded a Glock style airsoft gun.  The officers detained both subjects. One of the subjects, who was later identified as Matthew Robert Olvera, told officers that he had a handgun in his waist band and that he did not have a Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) license.  Officers retrieved the firearm and noted that the handgun was loaded with 9mm ammunition and serial number had been scratched off.  Olvera was arrested for weapons related charges and booked into the Fresno County Jail.”
