“RIVERSIDE, CA – On Thursday, July 22, 2021 at approximately 4:16 p.m., Riverside Police Officers responded to the 3300 block of Eucalyptus Avenue, located in the Eastside neighborhood of Riverside, for a shooting that just occurred. When they arrived, officers found a young adult woman suffering from a gunshot wound inside a home.
Unfortunately, 20-year-old Gladys Elizabeth Orosco, known to family and friends as “Lizzy,” was pronounced deceased on scene by paramedics with the Riverside Fire Department. The suspect was identified as her boyfriend, 19-year-old Fredi Lucero.
Detectives with the Robbery – Homicide Unit, along with Specialists from the Forensics Unit, responded and assumed the investigation. They have been assisted by the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner and Riverside County District Attorney’s Office.
The preliminary investigation revealed Lizzy and Fredi lived together and were in a dating relationship. An argument ensued that afternoon when Fredi produced a firearm and shot Lizzy, killing her. He then fled the house before officers arrived.
With assistance from patrol officers, the METRO Team, and bloodhounds from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department and ours, Fredi was located a couple hours later in the area of Spruce Street and the 91 Freeway. The handgun believed to have been used in this shooting was found near the scene with help from officers canvassing the area looking for witnesses and additional surveillance video.
Detectives arrested Fredi Lucero and later booked him into the Robert Presley Detention Center for murder and use of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He is currently being held on 2 million dollars’ bail.”
