Attempted Murder Gunfire in Desert Hot Springs

DESERT HOT SPRINGS – Shortly after 10:15 p.m on October 25th, Desert Hot Springs Police officers who were on patrol in the area of Hacienda Avenue and Cactus Drive heard multiple gunshots.

Almost immediately thereafter, dispatch received multiple 911 calls from concerned citizens. The callers reported a shooting in the 13000 block of El Cajon Drive.

Arriving officers discovered two cars with gunshot damage, but nobody suffered any physical injuries.

Witnesses were able to provide the officers with descriptions of the shooter and his vehicle. Officers later located a vehicle matching the description in the 13700 block of Santa Drive.  There officers made contact with the suspect who briefly made an unsuccessful attempt to fee.

37 year old Rickey Spivey Jr. of Desert Hot Springs was arrested and booked into Riverside County Jail in Banning where he faces charges of attempted murder and being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.

In addition, law enforcement also charged Spivey as the shooter in a separate incident from October 24th.
