Hemet High School teacher arrested for relationship with student

HEMET- Detectives recently arrested a Hemet High School teacher on numerous sexual assault charges. The arrest stemmed from an alleged past relationship with a high school student.

It started when nvestigators at the  RCSD’s Hemet Station received a tip on August 3. It concerned a possible past relationship between a Hemet High School teacher and a student.

Consequently, Riverside County Sheriff’s investigators arrested Miguel Chavez, 27,  without incident on August 6 in Hemet. Chavez was book into the Larry Smith Detention Center on numerous sexual assault charges.

Investigators determined that a crime occurred during the 2017-2018 school year involving Chavez, a math teacher at Hemet High, and a student. Investigators said they suspect there were additional victims and that the investigation is ongoing.
