Vehicle Stop Leads to Firearm Possession Arrest

“On 06/14/2021 at about 10:00 pm, Palm Springs PD officers were in the area of S. Farrell Drive and E. Baristo Road when they conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a vehicle code violation. Officers contacted the driver, Demietrias Phillips (03-19-82, Male resident of Desert Hot Springs). Phillips was found to be on probation for a previous conviction.

A search of Phillips and his vehicle revealed he was in possession of a loaded handgun and two loaded magazines. Phillips was placed under arrest and transported to the Indio Jail for PC 1203.2 (Probation Violation), PC 29800 (Felon in Possession of Firearm), PC 25400 (Carry Concealed Firearm in Vehicle), PC 25850 (Carrying Loaded Unregistered Firearm) and PC 29815 (Prohibition of Firearm Access).

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.”
