Riverside Police Arrest Suspect in Fatal Shooting at AutoZone Parking Lot

“MURDER SUSPECT ARRESTED IN PARKING LOT SHOOTING
NEWS RELEASE – On Friday, February 21, 2025, at around 10:45 p.m., Riverside Police Officers responded to reports of gunfire in the parking lot of AutoZone, located in the 1900 block of University Avenue in the Eastside neighborhood. Upon arrival, officers discovered a vehicle in the parking lot with a man inside suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim, identified as 52-year-old Carlos Delreal of Riverside, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Detectives assigned to the Robbery-Homicide Unit, along with specialists from the Forensics Unit, responded to assume the investigation. They have been assisted by the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office.
With support from the Crime Analysis Unit, detectives identified the homicide suspect as 25-year-old Jose Leon Navarrette of Riverside. On Thursday, February 27, 2025, investigators, along with our METRO Team, located and arrested him at a motel in Colton. He was later booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for murder and is being held without bail.
