“On February 25, 2021, at approximately 10:21 p.m., San Francisco Police officers from the Northern District Police Station responded to the 1100 block of Post Street regarding a reported stabbing. Upon arrival, officers met with San Francisco Fire Department paramedics who were tending to the victim, Devon Williams, 30, of San Francisco. Williams had an apparent stab wound to his chest and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The SFPD Homicide Detail assumed the investigation.

Through the course of the investigation which included surveillance video, the SFPD Homicide Detail published a crime alert bulletin which included images of the homicide suspect. As a result of the crime alert, the suspect was identified as Daniel Lee Raidy, 41, of San Francisco.

A computer check revealed that Raidy had an active no bail warrant for battery resulting in serious bodily injury (243 (d) PC). The warrant stemmed from an August 30, 2020, incident on the 600 block of Geary Street. In that incident, Raidy is suspected of stabbing a 31-year-old, male, San Francisco resident in the torso at approximately 12:25 a.m. before fleeing southbound on Jones Street.

On March 3, 2021, at approximately 10:22 a.m., members of the SFPD Homicide Detail located Raidy and, with the assistance of SFPD Officers assigned to Tenderloin Station, placed Raidy under arrest, for his outstanding warrant, on the 700 Block of Ellis Street.

Also on March 3, 2021, SFPD Homicide Investigators served a search warrant on Raidy’s residence one the 800 block of O’Farrell Street. The search warrant resulted in the seizure of evidence including clothing and a knife.

As a result of evidence seized, SFPD investigators developed probable cause to arrest Raidy for Williams’ murder. On May 26, 2021, Homicide Investigators placed Raidy under arrest for murder (187 PC) at the San Francisco County Jail where he was in custody.

While an arrest has been made, these remain active investigations. Anyone with information is asked to call the SFPD 24-hour tip line at 1-415-575-4444 or Text a Tip to TIP411 and begin the text message with SFPD. You may remain anonymous.”
