“On May 14, 2021, at around 8:00 am, the Merced County Sheriff’s Office Supervised Released Team received a call from the Bartlesville Police Department in the State of Oklahoma. Bartlesville PD relayed that Merced County Jail Escapee Charlie Everitt was possibly staying at a residence in their city. The Bartlesville PD SWAT Team went to the Residence and arrested Everitt without incident.
Merced County Sheriff’s Office, the Sacramento Police Department’s Task Force, “Sacramento Area Apprehension Team”, and the United States Marshals have been working on the escape case non-stop and followed every lead. During the investigation, it was discovered that Everitt could possibly be on his way to a friend’s house in Oklahoma.
On today’s date, an unidentified male subject walked into the Bartlesville Police Department and reported that Everitt was currently asleep at a residence within the town. Bartlesville PD called the Merced Sheriff’s Office to confirm Everitt as an escapee and then sent their SWAT Team to apprehend him. Everitt is currently in custody in Oklahoma and will soon be transferred back to Merced County.
