15 Y/O Gang Member Arrested for a Firearm, Robbery, and Gang Enhancements

“Merced – On May 29th, Merced Police arrested a Hispanic 15-year-old gang member for unlawful possession of a loaded firearm and a robbery that occurred on May 28th.

On May 28th, a 55-year-old field worker was assaulted and robbed after cashing his check at the Choice Food Market at 836 “T” Street. Officers discovered surveillance footage showing the suspect leave in a silver, 4 door, passenger vehicle.

Officer Chavez recognized the vehicle involved in the robbery outside of the Shop N Save Market at 1055 W. Childs Ave on May 29th. Officers detained a 19 & 15-year-old inside the vehicle. Officers located a loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun tucked in the juvenile’s waistband. Both persons are documented Norteno gang members.

The juvenile was identified as the primary suspect in the robbery. He was booked into custody at the Iris Garrett Juvenile Justice Correctional Complex.

Investigators believe there are other persons involved that are still outstanding. If you have any information, we encourage you to notify the Merced Police Department.”
