Merced man arrested in connection to alleged road rage incident

“Merced – Merced Police officers arrested Anthony Zimmerman (18) for aggravated assault stemming from a road rage incident.

At 4:11 PM, officers responded to the 1800 block of W. Olive Ave for a fight in progress near a car wash. When officers arrived, they located a fifty-three (53) year-old victim that sustained significant trauma to his head. The victim reported the altercation stemmed from a road rage incident. The victim said he was struck several times in the head with a flashlight.

Officers recovered surveillance footage that captured the altercation and the make and model of the vehicle the suspect was driving. Using the vehicle information, officers were able to locate the vehicle and an additional witness. Officers determined that Zimmerman was involved in the altercation.

The victim identified Zimmerman as his attacker during a sequential photo line-up. Zimmerman was arrested and booked at the Merced County Jail.”
