A Hollister man has been arrested on suspicion of domestic violence after an off-duty firefighter witnessed the alleged assault, police say.

On the afternoon of April 8, an off-duty firefighter reportedly witnessed 21-year-old Giovanni Bedolla assault a woman on the 1100 block of Sunnyslope Road.

Officers responded to the scene and detained Bedolla as he was following the woman across Sunnyslope Road. One officer spoke with the victim and the witness while the other spoke with Bedolla, the latter eventually discovering that Bedolla was carrying a loaded concealed firearm.
