Parked at Rite Aid with stolen catalytic converters, tools, paraphernalia

“On Friday, April 9th, 2021, at about 1444 hours, YPD officers were on a separate call for service at Rite Aid when officer’s observed narcotics paraphernalia inside a vehicle parked in front of the store.

No one was in the car and it was running. Officers also observed several catalytic converters that had been cut out of unknown vehicles and two cordless cutting tools with batteries. The vehicle owner walked up and was contacted.

A search of the vehicle revealed another used narcotics pipe and a total of 7 vehicle catalytic converters, the cordless cutting tools, blades and battery packs were seized due to recent thefts of catalytic converters in the City of Yreka and surrounding area.

The case is under investigation at this time. If you have had the catalytic converter cut out of your vehicle or you are missing some cordless cutting instruments, please contact Sgt. Ray Boutin at the Yreka Police Department at 530-841-2300 or in person at 1400 Fairlane Road.”
