“On February 27th at 7:53 a.m., Placer County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 4000-block of Wise Road in Auburn, for a report of suspicious circumstances.
A witness reported seeing a male suspect drive onto their property to steal an all-terrain vehicle (ATV).
Earlier that morning, it was reported the suspect had stolen a white Dodge pickup from another residence, causing $1,200 in damage to front gate of the home.
Deputies began searching for the suspect and spotted him driving the white pickup on Wise Road. The suspect took off as soon as deputies attempted to pull him over, leading them on a dangerous pursuit. The suspect crossed over double yellow lines and almost caused a head-on collision with another responding deputy, in addition to knocking over a street sign. He eventually came to a stop and led deputies on a brief foot chase, before he was detained.
The suspect was identified as 27-year old Thomas Godwin. Godwin was arrested for evading, vehicle theft, vandalism, prowling, hit and run, resisting arrest, and violating his parole.”
