A Sacramento man has reportedly been arrested and his son is being sought in connection to multiple alleged dent scams and burglaries in three counties — Yolo, Sacramento, and Placer.

49-year-old Steve John and his son, Anthony, were identified as the suspects after a recent incident in which the two allegedly robbed a man in Esparto in March.

In that incident, deputies responded to the home and were told by the homeowner that a man, later identified as Steve John, had approached him about buying a car that wasn’t for sale. While the two talked outside, Anthony John allegedly snuck into the man’s home and stole “a large sum of money,” the Sheriff’s Office said.

The two were also reportedly seen driving a truck with a decal that read “Affordable Dent Repair” and included the phone number (925) 470 – 8557. Investigators soon connected Steve and Anthony John to other alleged incidents of scamming and burglary.

On May 25, Yolo County detectives — along with authorities from Sacramento PD, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, Woodland PD, and the Placer County Sheriff’s Office — served a search warrant at the Johns’ residence in Sacramento.

Steve John was taken into custody on multiple warrants. Anthony John is still at large, the Sheriff’s Office said.
