Shooter kills self after hours-long standoff

A man was shot on the morning of February 15th at a home in the 15700 block of Lyons Valley Road.

The victim, discovered outside of the residence, was taken to paramedics and then to the hospital,

A 64-year-old male was identified as the suspect and then located in the residence, still armed with a gun. The suspect refused to surrender to authorities and come out.

“The Sheriff’s Crisis Negotiations Team (CNT) and Special Enforcement Detail (SED) were requested to respond to the scene in an attempt to safely resolve the incident.”

Several hours passed and the suspect uncooperatively remained inside.

Chemical agents were then employed but  still no response came from inside.

Finally, the suspected shooter was discovered “deceased in the attic” around 4:30 a.m. from an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The victim’s wounds are not life-threatening.
