On August 16th, 2022 – San Diego Sheriff’s Deputies arrived on the scene to a report of gunshots in the area of Jamacha Blvd. and Thayer Drive. Once on the scene, Deputies located a victim with obvious gunshot wounds to his upper torso.

Life-saving measures were immediately performed by responding Deputies until emergency medical services arrived. The man was then taken to the hospital, but unfortunately, he later died from his injuries.

Sheriff’s Homicide Investigators took lead of the investigation. The Investigators were able to identify a suspect quickly in the investigation, but did not release the name immediately as the investigation was ongoing.

On August 29th, the Sheriff’s Department released the identity of the victim as Jorkim Rose (32). It was determined during autopsy that he had suffered multiple gunshot wounds resulting in his death.

On November 22nd , the San Diego Sheriff’s Department was able to announce that with the assistance of the San Diego Regional Fugitive Task Force, they had arrested 2 suspects for the murder of Jorkim Rose. The suspects were identified as Jordan Mitchell (28), and Dejell Broadnax (23).

Broadnax was taken into custody on November 18th in San Marcos and Mitchell was arrested November 21st in El Cajon. So far it does not appear that the victim and suspects knew each other, and that this murder appears to be a gang related incident.

Both suspects were booked into the San Diego Central Jail for murder.
