Walking around as one who is known to law enforcement as what Ventura County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Det. Cameron Simpkins characterizes as “a documented gang member” while driving around with a mega-baggie of illegal prescription drugs in the car might not be the best way to avoid being busted by the cops.

Apparently this notion escaped the attention of 26-year-old Santa Clarita resident Mantej Sunner on the evening of January 15 th when he was caught with a gallon-size Ziploc plastic bag holding “approximately 239 grams of Xanax pills.

The subject of “a four-month long investigation” by the Thousand Oaks Special Enforcement Unit, Sunner was suspected as being involved in “the sales of narcotics to residents of Ventura County.”

That suspicion proved to be valid on the evening of January 15th when Sunner—enjoying freedom under the terms of Post Release Supervision—was contacted by detectives as he cruised through the City of Simi Valley. Detectives conducted a search of his vehicle and quickly discovered Sunner to be in possession of the Xanax as well as “drug paraphernalia” indicative of illicit sales activity.

Sunner was taken into custody and transported to Ventura County Jail, where he was booked on charges of possession and transportation of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and violation of probation terms. He remains in custody on a no-bail hold.
